"In the wake of trauma, your unique attachment style deeply influences what happens next." -Diane Poole Heller A lot of people in my life have no idea that I was bitten by a shark, and not just a nibble - a life altering nearly life taking attack when I was just 7 years old. I've gone through so many stages - deep shame as a child (and adult) for being "different", stuck in victim as a way to get attention from it, downplaying it because I was tired of making it a thing - and more. Well, this post is none of the above. It's a desire to share the mind blowing healing I have experienced in the last few month. And to offer hope because I am living proof that as our consciousness expands so does the depth of healing we can receive on all levels.
The theme of this year has been that it's time to tell my story. And it's time for me to really understand how this and other trauma in my childhood has conditioned my adult life to behave in ways based on self-protection and survival. A pattern that served my defenseless little girl very well but keeps tripping up my grown woman. I'm going to do this blog in snack sizes, that's what works for me and I believe what works for most people in this high speed - short attention plagued society. If you made it to this sentence congratulations! And stay tuned as I share more "insight snacks" along the way.
